Why is it important for my wallet address to be accurate?
Below are the reasons why, when transferring cryptocurrencies, the recipient wallet address must be entered correctly:
Cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible. Once a cryptocurrency transfer is confirmed and marked as successful on the Blockchain, it cannot be reversed. If you enter an invalid wallet address when sending your assets, or you share the wrong wallet address to someone sending you assets, the transaction will typically be permanently lost.
Individual wallet addresses have unique formats. Each cryptocurrency has its own unique wallet address, which is a complicated sequence of letters and numbers. If you send Bitcoin to an Ethereum wallet address, once again, you will lose your funds.
Why is it important for the network on both the recipient wallet and the sending wallet to match when transferring cryptocurrencies?
Some cryptocurrencies can be sent over multiple networks due to the versatility of their underlying technology and the use of cross-chain compatibility. The network on the sending wallet must match the network on the recipient wallet when sending cryptocurrencies because each network (or Blockchain) operates independently and uses its own protocol, addresses, and consensus rules.
For example: ETH can be transferred using both the ERC20 network and the BEP20 network. If you are sending ETH using the ERC20 network, the recipient’s wallet address for ETH also needs to be configured to the ERC20 network. Similarly, when receiving cryptocurrencies, make sure that you share a wallet address with the sender that is configured to the same network that their wallet address is configured to.
